Environmental pollution and its daily effects on our bodies

We live in a time in which we are exposed to numerous environmental pollutants. Exhaust fumes from industry and traffic, increasing electrosmog, agricultural toxins, as well as household chemicals and plastics, all take their toll on our bodies on a daily basis.

Since we cannot protect ourselves from every source of pollution, we believe that wherever we can influence it, we should take action. This begins with the choice of daily foods and drinks and, of course, the cosmetic products we use. The skin, as an external protective barrier, has many functions and cannot be viewed in isolation from the rest of the body. Any substance applied to the skin can penetrate it into the body and potentially cause disorders.

Skin care – even when washing

Especially at a time when hands are under a lot of stress from frequent handwashing or disinfection , skin care is important. Therefore, our soaps have a superfatting (refatting) content of 5-20%, so everyone can decide for themselves what they need.

Of course, of course

From an early age, we tried to only use cosmetics that contain ingredients we can read and understand. Her studies in holistic health at the Academy of Naturopathy (akn.ch) encouraged the company founder to eat and use only natural ingredients .

Processing of raw materials

In addition to the naturalness of the ingredients, the degree of processing is also crucial. Oils undergo a variety of processes to make them shelf-stable and heat-resistant. However, many of the ingredients are heat-sensitive and either disappear during processing or change their structure, making them less valuable or even harmful to humans. So-called trans fatty acids can be created.

Organically grown natural raw materials

Only cold-pressed, organically grown oils contain many vitamins, nutrients and secondary plant substances that we as humans can also use.
Therefore, our goal is to use high-quality virgin oils and fats , all of which come from organic farming, in the manufacture of our products.

Even if essential oils are used, they are from certified organic cultivation. We only use natural colorings such as paprika, turmeric, or nettle, which are also edible. Therefore, our soaps are not dazzling in color , but rather muted .

Since mid-2022, our products have been certified as natural products according to ProNature , and if they do not contain beeswax, they are also declared vegan. Beeswax is the only ingredient of animal origin we use.

The label meets the high standards of the German Federal Association of Natural Foods and Natural Products (BNN) . The label is listed on page 15 of the product range guidelines.

Price

The raw materials we use aren't cheap, of course, but we do our best to keep prices fair for you. We achieve this by purchasing in bulk and doing as much of the manufacturing ourselves as possible.

INCI

The International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients (INCI) is an international guideline for the correct labeling of cosmetic ingredients. This nomenclature is intended to give allergy sufferers, in particular, but also attentive consumers, the opportunity to check a product for questionable ingredients before purchase. However, the information must be provided only in English . To ensure everyone can understand the ingredients, we provide translations on the packaging and/or on flyers.

What exactly is soap and how is it made?

If you look it up on Wikipedia, you'll learn that soap was already being made by the Sumerians, and later by the Egyptians and Greeks. Later, the Romans discovered that boiling oils and fats together with an alkaline solution (formerly plant ash, now lye) had a cleansing effect . Chemically speaking, a reaction called saponification takes place. It's never ceases to amaze what humanity, with its thirst for research, can try and discover. It's also fascinating that many recipes remain relevant over the centuries.

In the past, low-quality fats from animal waste were used to produce soap by boiling (cooking at high temperatures). Today, however, we rely on high-quality oils and fats that are processed at low temperatures and with precisely measured amounts of lye. This leaves some of the ingredients unsaponified, which provides a moisturizing effect and nourishes the skin during washing.

And why make it yourself?

There are very few soaps and cosmetics that contain only the essential ingredients and are free of artificial additives. Therefore, many years ago, the company founder began making these products herself for her own use, using ingredients that met her needs and requirements.

It's simply wonderful to wash your hands with a homemade bar of soap or to care for your skin with a homemade cream. Just try it yourself – it's not that difficult for your own needs. It just takes a little time to research and experiment. And for those who don't have time for that, our products are, of course, the perfect solution 😉.

The beauty of producing soaps and lotions is that these products are made without waste.

Everything is weighed and incorporated; at the end, all that remains is the washing up...
